About Us

Our Mission

Lumberjack Service Society is rooted in service at Stephen F. Austin State University with a goal of helping students have a fresh start so they can finish strong.

Meet Our Team

Kristi Weaver

I serve as the First Lady of Stephen F. Austin State University. I am deeply committed to service and community impact, with a professional background rooted in years of nonprofit work. My experience has strengthened my belief in the power of support systems and access to education as pathways to long-term success. As a member of the Board of Directors for CASA, I have had the privilege of advocating for children in the foster care system. Witnessing both the challenges and resilience of these young individuals has inspired me to help our incoming and current students here at SFA. By combining my background in service with my commitment to advocacy, I hope to help create meaningful resources, guidance, and opportunities that empower these students to succeed academically and personally.

President

Joann Black

I serve as the Assistant to the President of Stephen F. Austin State University. As a first-generation college graduate, I understand some of the challenges students may face as they embark upon their academic journey in higher education. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SFA, so I am passionate about giving back to the institution and community that shaped me. Being a founding member of the Lumberjack Service Society has allowed me the opportunity to make a positive impact on the students who trust SFA and the Nacogdoches community to provide the best college experience possible and to prepare them for a strong finish as they venture into their chosen professions.

President Elect

Carrie Burnett

I’m a corporate communications consultant with decades of experience, primarily in oil and gas, and a proud Stephen F. Austin State University alumni. I recently returned to Nacogdoches after ten years as an expat in the Middle East, where I worked for a large international oil company. We chose to settle in Nacogdoches because of its strong sense of community, and I’m excited to give back, be actively involved, and help students thrive. Having worked across diverse cultures and environments, I’ve seen how connection, understanding, and support can make a meaningful difference - which is why I value being of service. I’m driven by the belief that thoughtful actions can have a lasting impact on people and communities.

Vice President

Charity Bentley

I am a REALTOR® serving the Nacogdoches community with Living Texas Realty Group, LLC. Service to others has always been at the heart of who I am. I strive to reflect the love of Christ and be a light in the lives of those around me by meeting people where they are and supporting their needs. Through Lumberjack Service Society, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and uplift students within the SFASU community.

Secretary

Jennifer McCall

I serve as Director of Treasury and Student Business Services at Stephen F. Austin State University and am a proud second‑generation Lumberjack. The Lumberjack Service Society is a practical, welcoming way for faculty, staff, and supporters to serve together. This effort is rooted in the belief that service builds connection and reflects the heart of the Lumberjack spirit. I’m excited to work as a team to create meaningful, hands‑on impact for our campus.

Treasurer

Kelsey Pate

I am the Lead Network Administrator for Elliott Electric Supply, where I focus on building reliable systems and solving complex problems within the information technology department. I’m passionate about serving others and am excited to be part of a founding team dedicated to empowering students and creating meaningful opportunities for growth. As a first-generation graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, it is especially rewarding to give back to students at the same institution that shaped me in such a positive way. I look forward to helping expand our outreach and create opportunities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
